Nancy, 41, was admitted to a California hospital in September 1991 for a biopsy when the superior vena cava was accidentally nicked. The surgeon panicked and stitched the vessel shut, hindering circulation. After revival, Nancy discovered she could not see anymore and was rushed on a gurney to an elevator. When the gurney slammed into the elevator, she had an OBE while in life-threatening condition due to impeded blood supply. Despite her loss of sight, during the OBE she could see her face covered by a breathing pump, her body under a sheet, people panicking around her, and two men in the corridor looking shocked - her son's father and boyfriend Leon. After resuscitation, doctors couldn't restore her sight. Dr. Ring and Ms. Cooper verified through medical files and interviews with both men. Leon confirmed he was in shock when learning what happened and that he and her son's father stood together in the corridor, corroborating Nancy's "blind" observations.
