A 58-year-old man from Hamilton, Canada underwent complicated vascular surgery in connection with a fistula. During the operation under heavy anesthesia, he experienced an out-of-body experience where he could observe the surgical procedures from above his body. Despite being fully anesthetized with machines attached on both sides, he later described one by one all the procedures performed during the operation, details he had not been told beforehand to spare him distress. He reported feeling his lower jaw grow cold, seeing his chin with a shiver passing through it, and observing his body from outside. He also encountered a group of beings who looked like soldiers who decided not to take him, after which his body and soul reunited. His accurate perceptions of the surgical procedures were confirmed by medical staff. The experience profoundly changed him, as he would never have believed in such phenomena had he not personally experienced them.
