Rena was a junior high school student in Greece in spring 1975 when she and her best friend skipped a school excursion to ride with the friend's secretly-married husband. Five minutes after being picked up, less than a mile down Bay Boulevard in Thessaloniki, a taxi lost control and hit them at high speed in the middle of their car. Rena was sitting in the back seat behind the driver.

Immediately after impact, she found herself speeding upward through a tunnel filled with holes through which bright light beams were coming. She heard the sweet sound of hundreds of chimes and felt an incredible, ecstatic happiness she had never experienced before. She was swirling around while traveling toward a very bright, beautiful light at the tunnel's end that didn't hurt her eyes. She felt eager to reach this destination.

Something compelled her to look downward, where she saw remarkably specific details from hundreds of meters in the air. She observed the roof of the area's highest and most expensive hotel by the sea, noting the summer bar and tables with yellow-white striped sun umbrellas - details from their starting point. She realized she had no body, only eyes. The tunnel disappeared and she began floating slowly downward, drifting along the Boulevard toward the accident scene. From just meters above, she observed their twisted car around an electricity pole, her friend asking men from a white Mercedes for help, and specific details about the rescuers - one tall in a white shirt, another stockier in a green sweatshirt with a bald spot visible from above. She watched as they pulled her unconscious body from the car by the feet and placed her in the Mercedes.

She awoke on a wheelchair being pushed down the hospital corridor. Her father confirmed she had frightened them, and she told her mother she saw three angels. Later, her father took her to the hotel roof to verify the details she had seen, confirming their accuracy.

--- Biblical Summary ---
Biblical elements: The tunnel of light without pain to the eyes resembles biblical descriptions of divine light. The chimes could represent heavenly music. The out-of-body experience aligns with Paul's description in 2 Corinthians. The complete peace and joy reflect biblical descriptions of God's presence. Her reference to seeing angels shows biblical interpretation of the experience.

Unbiblical elements: None identified. While the experience lacks explicit religious figures or judgment scenes, nothing contradicts biblical principles. The verified observations of real-world details during the OBE actually strengthen the case for consciousness surviving bodily death, supporting biblical anthropology.
