Laura had a near-death experience in 1982 at age 29 while at a dentist's office in the Pacific Northwest. She suffered an allergic reaction to an anesthetic, which triggered a profound spiritual journey. Initially, she floated toward the ceiling and watched the frantic efforts of the dentist working on her physical body still in the chair. Despite the emergency situation, she felt no fear or panic - in fact, she felt great.
Laura then moved through a tunnel, being pulled through at great speed. While in this tunnel, she encountered her mother who had died when Laura was only 13 years old. For sixteen years since her mother's death, not a week had passed without Laura wishing she could talk with her mother about things left unsaid. Her mother, who had not been whole, healthy, or beautiful when she died, now appeared vibrant, healthy, and beautiful in the tunnel. They communicated telepathically, finishing the unfinished business between them. For the first time since her mother's death, Laura was able to "let go" of her anxiety and feel at peace. She then came into the presence of "the Light," which emanated a forgiving love. Though she was told she must return to her physical body and protested, she felt herself "whooshing" back. This experience profoundly healed Laura's long-standing grief over her mother's death. The resolution of their unfinished business and the peace she found transformed her life. She has since undergone many life changes, including sharing her NDE with dying patients to help them face death without fear.
