Ribes was seven years old in 1965 when he experienced clinical death during a hernia operation under general anesthesia. His father was present when the medical team had to perform cardiac resuscitation, causing great fear in the family.
During the clinical death, Ribes was projected through a bright tunnel at dizzying speed, experiencing colors and flashes of light. He heard divine music and a soft, reassuring inner voice telling him not to be afraid and that he didn't risk anything. He felt no bodily sensations - no heartbeat, no gravity, no physical form. He observed that he had no body anymore. As he moved closer to an increasingly intense light that caused no pain to his eyes, he distinguished three white silhouettes visible from shoulders to head. At just two to three meters away, he stopped advancing. These three beings emanated kindness and compassion. Their eyes were large, completely black, globulous and almond-shaped, expressing deep compassion. The inner voice continued, telling him it was not his turn and that he would start again. After a great white light, he opened his eyes to find doctors had successfully resuscitated him. His father told him he had frightened them. He later told his mother he had seen three angels. The experience left him with heightened sensitivity and an ability to sense what people think. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience includes angelic beings (three figures he identified as angels), divine music consistent with heavenly worship, bright divine light, and a reassuring divine voice providing comfort. The tunnel passage toward light reflects biblical transitions from death to life. The compassionate nature of the beings aligns with biblical descriptions of angels as ministering spirits. Unbiblical elements: The description of the beings having large, black, globulous, almond-shaped eyes is unusual and doesn't match typical biblical angel descriptions. The development of psychic sensitivity afterward (sensing others' thoughts) ventures into areas the Bible generally warns against. However, these elements are relatively minor concerns in an otherwise biblically-consonant experience.
