Tyson, a 21-year-old who had been drinking all night, arrived home safely but awakened feeling weird with a headache. He became confused, reportedly had a seizure, and was transported to the hospital after his wife called 911. In the hospital, he began to pass out as physicians intubated him. He went into code blue and was placed on life support before his family arrived. His experience represents a Type III Less Than Positive NDE with graphic hellish imagery.
During the experience, Tyson found himself in an extremely bizarre supernatural realm. He was chained to a bed in what he perceived as hell, being actively tortured. He could lift his head enough to see a large steel double door with a gap underneath through which he could see and feel intense heat and flames. The heat was so extreme he felt like he was lying on hot coals. A demonic figure with glowing eyes like headlight beams appeared - described as wearing black with long dark hair and finger-like nails, extremely sweaty and agitated. An even more powerful unseen force was present, torturing him psychologically and telling him "You're going to die" along with other vulgar statements. Tyson sensed hideous monsters whose shadows and movements he could see but not their faces. Coming from a Pentecostal background, this matched his expectations of hell. He felt definite judgment and knew he was there because he had put himself there through his choices. The demon-like entity hurled insults at him while hurting him. The experience was transformative despite its terrifying nature. Tyson now views it philosophically - "Now that my house has burned down, I have a better view of the sky." The hellish NDE served as a powerful wake-up call about his lifestyle choices and spiritual state.
