Pegi Robinson, age five, was playing with Barbie dolls when her mother suggested swimming to escape the heat. She and her brother Jack went to the pond ahead of their mother and sister. Unable to swim properly, Pegi used a floating board as a raft to reach the deep center of the pond. When Jack took the board from her, she began drowning, experiencing terror and pain before suddenly becoming calm and peaceful. She found she could breathe underwater, which turned bright green, and fish bumped into her. Realizing she had died, she left her body and rose above the pond to treetop level. From this elevated perspective, she could see the entire area including the road, railroad tracks, and Ohio River. She observed her mother and sister still at the house, then later arriving at the pond, unaware she was missing. She experienced intense emotions and considered leaving to find other ghost children. An angel's voice told her to wait, saying she might return if found soon. Jack eventually pulled her from the water and carried her home over his shoulder, with water pouring from her mouth. The angel later appeared visually, promising Pegi would have love when she had her own family, pointing toward town. After the experience, Pegi had spiritual visions including seeing herself waiting to sit on Jesus's lap in heaven during Sunday school.
