Muktar, a 12-year-old boy, fell from a palm tree and entered a coma for some time. After regaining consciousness, he shared a remarkable near-death experience that contained several surprising elements for someone from his desert oasis village background. He reported seeing vast green grasslands, which astonished him as he was only familiar with the yellow sand surrounding his village. He heard beautiful music played without the flutes and tambourines that were fundamental to his local musical tradition, suggesting otherworldly instruments. Muktar saw an apparently bright light that he could look at directly without needing to protect his eyes, unlike the harsh desert sun he knew. During his experience, he met his deceased grandfather and younger brother, with whom he communicated telepathically "without moving the mouth" - a concept that would have been unfamiliar to a young boy from his cultural background. These culture-transcending elements suggest the experience was not merely a hallucination based on his expectations.
