Randall M experienced a near-death event in July 1968 after being attacked with a blackjack, suffering multiple blows to the right side of his head that broke his eye orbit. He was without heartbeat and respiration for nearly 5 minutes and 30 seconds, with blood pressure dropping to 35/15. During this time, he floated above his body, observing the medical emergency scene from the ceiling. He could move at will through the hospital by thought alone, exploring his assigned room and observing a window overlooking a courtyard with fountain and pond in bright sunlight. Remarkably, a hospital attendant later confirmed that this window had been bricked over in the 1940s during the war, providing veridical evidence of his out-of-body perception.
