A private patient of Dr. Fonzo suffered a cardiac arrest and required resuscitation. After the successful resuscitation and recovery from the health crisis, the patient reported a remarkable out-of-body experience. The patient claimed to have felt well during the cardiac arrest, floating above their body with full consciousness. From this elevated perspective, the patient observed the entire resuscitation process being performed by the medical team. The patient provided detailed descriptions of the resuscitation procedures that corresponded accurately to the actual events as experienced and remembered by Dr. Fonzo. The veridical nature of these observations, made while the patient was clinically dead, suggests that consciousness may persist even during cardiac arrest. The patient described feeling peaceful and detached while observing their physical body being worked on below.
