A 13-year-old boy with high fever and severe cough fell into a coma lasting six to seven hours. During this life-threatening state, he experienced being flown upward by two winged creatures described as angels or fairies, each holding one of his hands and proceeding smoothly up through the skies. The journey was extremely exhilarating for both body and soul, and he was fully enjoying the sublime experience. However, the joyous upward journey was repeatedly interrupted by earthly forces trying to pull him down by grappling at his feet. In utter disgust, he tried to kick and jerk them away to get rid of their nuisance and continue his upward journey. These downward pulling forces appeared to coincide with medical intervention attempts. He was eventually revived to consciousness by injections given by the physician who had arrived. Even at age 62, nearly 50 years later, the experience remains so clearly imprinted on his subconscious mind that he can remember it as though it happened recently. The vivid nature and lasting impact of this childhood experience during a medical crisis demonstrates the profound effect such events can have.
