On November 7, 1997, at approximately 4:30 a.m., alone and asleep in her apartment, Judith Mandalise was awakened by someone shoving her face into her pillow. She saw a black silhouette of a raised arm above her head before everything went black. She experienced floating above her bed, then standing and looking down at the rumpled blankets on the bed, feeling detached and calm. Though she knew she had corporeality, she felt light, almost transparent. The room was lit with a soft, gentle white light despite dawn being hours away. She was then enveloped by a rich and vibrant blackness that felt alive and welcoming. Drawing her attention upward was light in the shape of an oval, as though someone had spilled thousands of brilliant diamonds across the velvety darkness. She began moving toward the illumination-filled opening but could not enter. She found herself back in the soft gentle glow and was not alone. She was listening intently to two or three familiar entities speaking to her. Although she has no memory of the details of the information, the sense of importance continues with her. When she asked "What do I do now?" they clearly replied "Scream!" which she did forcefully. As she began to scream, she felt a thud and no longer felt light and airy but solid and heavy as she once again associated with her physical body. Her injuries included a broken finger, an open head wound, a concussion, and an externally dislocated left clavicle.
