A 21-year-old North African woman was falling asleep when her feet suddenly became paralyzed and cold as if death were approaching. She transformed into a pure, white, transparent spirit ascending toward heaven, surrounded by other intense white lights serving as a barrier between her and God. A luminous angel accompanied her at her side with strong light everywhere and light coming from behind God. God spoke directly to her saying "It's time for your death. Give me one good reason why you should remain alive." She answered "I will do good in the world," and God responded "I will give you another chance," after which she suddenly returned to her body. During the experience she could see all of history as it occurred and was about to occur, including events of World War III unfolding. Years later when she had children, she realized her good work took the form of raising them. Light appeared as a veil blocking direct vision of the ineffable and formless God, a concept familiar to Islamic mystics.
