During an Oregon Coast visit, the experiencer became wedged between a motel wall and soft mattress, triggering an apnea attack with inability to move or breathe, leading to cardiac failure. He was blasted through an amazing tunnel of brightness toward an unbelievable bright light. Arriving in an overwhelmingly bright place with fluid colors, he initially didn't realize he was without his physical body. Upon recognizing what was happening, he reacted with profane anger, screaming he wasn't finished with life and had young children. A voice responded "Okay. Relax. It's not your time."
He saw a much brighter portal 30-50 feet away that pulled at his heart, knowing that entering would mean no return to earthly life. The portal induced complete feelings of peace, calm, and contentment. A conversation ensued with a voice he understood to be God - "all that is, all that was, all that ever shall be." God told him "You must understand the gift to be able to enjoy and treasure the gift you have been given." He then experienced a comprehensive life review showing all moments when love was present, followed by times he had hurt others enough to make them doubt their self-worth through cutting sarcasm, callous remarks, and unkind actions. When he insisted on knowing "Why? What does it all mean?" he was "blasted with a force of knowledge" containing all answers to life, death, science, and theology. This overwhelming download of cosmic knowledge left him terrified and feeling inadequate. He awoke with fragments of this knowledge pounding in his brain. For two years, he obsessively studied physics, quantum mechanics, theology, trying to connect all the dots of existence. This quest consumed him until his daughters asked him to play, their simple love breaking through his obsession and revealing that the answer to life was "with the faith of a child." The experience gave him understanding that God is an entity of energy comprising all energy in the universe, that we are life force energy one with God, that prayer works by tapping into ultimate power to change physical manifestation, and that everything exists in balance between light/dark, positive/negative. After setting aside his quest for 13 years to raise family, recent deaths of friends have reactivated his compulsion to bring religion and science together.
