Marine stabbed in the heart and lung during a violent altercation while defending a fellow Marine. Four attackers, one stabbing him in the pulmonary artery and lung. Subject experienced paralysis and suffocation on the ground. Brad, a Navy sailor, performed CPR and gave rescue breathing. During clinical death, subject experienced out-of-body state as a black translucent shadow made of energy. Stood over his body with spirit feet in his physical head, looking down without remembering being hurt. Made fists with both shadow arms, feeling great power and strength as pure energy. Shot off at 45-degree angle like a rocket through infinite darkness, searching for something unknown. Encountered four beings to his left and a male voice to his right saying "he's not going to make it." This triggered memory of dying, causing return to body through eyes like a cartoon window shade. In ambulance, saw Brad covered in blood and paramedic with IV, gave them both middle fingers saying he would not die. Brad later confirmed he never sat up and subject never moved or spoke in ambulance.
--- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Out-of-body experience consistent with Paul's experience of being "caught up to the third heaven" (2 Cor 12:2-4). The darkness could represent the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4). Encountering spiritual beings aligns with biblical accounts of the spiritual realm. The decision to return and fight for life shows human will cooperating with divine timing. Unbiblical elements: The description of becoming "energy" and the absence of light, God, Christ, or heaven is atypical for biblical NDEs. The void/darkness without redemptive elements and the lack of life review or moral dimension differs from many biblical near-death accounts.
