The experiencer had a difficult childbirth in January 1982 after three days of labor with an atrophic uterus. Following delivery, she experienced severe bleeding that the doctor struggled to control. She heard the doctor say "Come on, stop bleeding!" and saw her skin turn bluish gray in the overhead mirror. She felt her heart pumping faster trying to compensate for blood loss, then everything stopped - her heart and breathing ceased. She experienced profound peace and felt herself rise above her body toward the ceiling as a wave of movement. She found herself immersed in white light all around her and conversed with the light, asking to return to her new baby. She heard someone say "I'll go back with her" though she couldn't identify the voice. Her energy form snapped back into her body, bringing pain and heaviness. She awoke with medical equipment attached and spent three to four hours in recovery until bleeding stopped. The next day she delivered retained placenta the doctor had forgotten to remove. The experience eliminated her fear of death and she now knows there is nothing like the love felt in that white light.
