In 1965, when less than a year old, the subject crawled behind a couch and into a torn opening in the material underneath. He crawled deep inside thinking it would be a secret hiding place but became trapped as the space was too cramped to turn around. He began running out of oxygen and struggling made it worse. The suffering from suffocation was awful until he experienced acceptance, finding comfort despite the suffering. As suffering diminished, he realized he no longer needed oxygen or his physical body while remaining completely coherent. He never lost consciousness throughout the process. Moving to his right, he could see the living room though still in the couch. The room was bright as if lit by a hundred light bulbs. From above the couch, he observed everything intact. Suddenly flowers began growing rapidly out of every surface - floors, walls, objects - turning the room into a small paradise with happiness far beyond earthly experience. Then everything went pitch dark with complete darkness giving opposite feelings. He heard voices from far behind over his left shoulder - suffering beings that sounded evil. The voices got closer, surrounding him. Terrified, he whispered "Someone, please help me." A light shone from behind and a hand touched his left shoulder. It was Jesus in all white, who communicated in spiritual language: "I am Jesus your savior, savior of all mankind and today I am taking you with me to paradise." They moved forward together, encountering hundreds or thousands of light beings. They walked as it became daylight, with Jesus conversing with him and others following. Jesus then said things had changed and he had to return to his body to complete his purpose. Jesus showed him his future life (which he cannot remember) explaining why he couldn't go to heaven next time but would be in a content place. His father pulled him out by his ankle, saving his life.
