A woman with severe dental anxiety had used nitrous oxide for teeth cleanings for approximately 40 years. In May 2021, during a routine cleaning with a new hygienist, she experienced a life-threatening reaction to the nitrous oxide. The hygienist set the machine to the normal level of 30, but the woman's typical visualizations intensified beyond normal. The last thing she heard was the hygienist commenting on how straight her teeth were before everything went black.
The woman knew she had died and accepted it peacefully. She felt her consciousness or soul disconnect from her body in the black void. She then experienced a comprehensive life review consisting of hundreds of thousands of still pictures from her life flashing before her - not photographs she had seen before, but all meaningful people and events. The review happened incredibly fast, progressing chronologically up to 2016, then suddenly reversed so rapidly she couldn't see the images, likely when the gas was turned off. She was jolted back into her body with an enormous breath, all limbs stiffening then releasing, dropping her phone. Her eyes rolled back and she was unresponsive for what staff said was a few minutes, though it felt like half an hour to her. The dentist was holding her hand saying "Breathe, Kristina, breathe." When asked where she was, she replied with the city from her 2016 life review pictures. She could initially remember four pictures, then only one clearly: her son and nephew preparing to jump into a pool. Post-NDE effects included complete loss of emotions for a week, followed by unusual abilities lasting about a year: time travel through her life during showers, feeling like a prophet with extraordinary wisdom, and experiencing dimensional shifts. The dentist noted this happens approximately once every 20 years in dental practice. The receptionist had been ready to call 911. The abilities ended when another life trauma occurred approximately one year later.
