A 20-year-old Muslim woman from Yemen accompanied her parents to South India for her mother's heart treatment when she fell seriously ill with a high fever. Despite multiple tests for typhoid and malaria coming back negative, her condition worsened dramatically while hospitalized. During an afternoon nap with her parents in the room, she suddenly could not breathe and tried desperately to call out to her sleeping parents but could make no sound. Her chest showed no signs of movement despite her attempts to inhale. After experiencing great pain, she gave up trying and looked up at the ceiling, where relief came and the room disappeared into overwhelming light. She felt enveloped in light with a sense of peace and peaceful surrender, smiling throughout the experience. Her father later reported that her mother woke to find her with eyes rolled back and mouth open, appearing dead. Medical staff resuscitated her with a breathing pump after her chest had stopped working. She recovered rapidly within three days and left the hospital despite doctors' objections, feeling absolute confidence in her health. After returning to Yemen, she developed predictive abilities including knowing who was calling before answering, having premonitions about meeting people, and experiencing prophetic dreams. She became more devout toward God and only realized the significance of her experience as a Near-Death Experience over 20 years later.
