A man developed blood clots in his legs, lungs, and heart following double knee replacement surgery in 2014. After being discharged to rehab, he was rushed to the emergency room on 100% oxygen but could barely breathe. While lucid and talking to his wife, he began feeling a pull from behind, slipping backwards as he lost all sense of pain. Realizing he was dying, a tunnel formed around him which he recognized as the beginning of the death process. He felt happy, serene, and familiar with going home.
As he began telling his wife "We will never end," she looked at him saying "Oh no, you're not leaving me." When she spoke, a great light flooded the room and she appeared lit up like an angel with a third eye visible like a Hindu archetype. He was amazed at her beauty and immediately began sliding back toward her as the pain returned. He spent five weeks in ICU while prayers were sent from Muslim, Jewish, Christian and other friends in their community. His mind seemed to travel to where prayers were being offered - he was present there. While in the tunnel, he noticed what might be described as demons hanging in the shadows trying to scare him or make him angry. He knew they could not harm him as long as he wasn't afraid or didn't return anger with anger. During his time in ICU, a Latino pastor led a prayer circle around him and performed a special blessing in Spanish and Latin, saying "That's a little something extra from me." Eight years later, he still feels joy beyond words. He credits their mutual love - which God saw and blessed - with giving them more time together, not wanting him to come home with sadness in his heart. The collective love of many people during his experience showed him that all is well because God has everything in hand.
