The experiencer was severely ill with five parasitic infestations simultaneously - bacillary dysentery, amoebic dysentery, pinworms, roundworms, and giardia. While lying on the floor to take a nap before a doctor's appointment, they began experiencing an interior buzzing or trembling sensation in their head. With eyes open, they felt dizzy with a sensation similar to spinning and stopping. They remained fully aware as they felt their spirit lift away from their body, maintaining the same horizontal position and compass direction as their physical form below.
From their elevated spirit perspective, they could see in all directions simultaneously like being in a helicopter bubble. After lifting higher, their focus turned toward forward flight heading west. They gradually became aware of traveling through a large, dark tunnel with highlights lit from a source at the very end, resembling a mountain tunnel carved from rock. They moved faster and faster toward the light at the tunnel's end. Suddenly everything changed, and they found themselves hovering over their brother's house, still on their back but able to see the house in plan view as if the roof were removed. Inside, they observed their mother and sister-in-law chatting about normal topics - what the kids were doing, recipes, clothing styles. Then they were suddenly pulled back into their body head first, as if being sucked back to the floor. Eleven days later, they received a letter from their mother describing her visit to the brother's house and the exact conversation with the sister-in-law that the experiencer had already witnessed and described to another volunteer. This verification transformed their view from considering it an interesting mental phenomenon to recognizing there truly is another dimension of reality.
