During a violent marriage, the experiencer was punched in the eye area by her husband and fell down. He then strangled her until she lost consciousness. Everything became smoky and cloudy, like being in nothingness. She began to see light and understood with excitement that she had died, thinking "Oh, it's true. There IS life after death."
Things became more focused as she walked along a long winding path through a forest-like environment. In the far distance, she could see a monastery. A being became visible, dressed in brown robe-like clothing with a belt, who raised his arms to greet her. As she walked closer, she felt excitement about reaching her destiny. However, just as she was about to enter his arms, he stopped her. He raised one hand, pointed his index finger at her, and in very loud, carefully spoken words said, "You must go back." Like a flash, she felt a vacuum sucking her back into her body. She was aware only of her astral body until it hit and merged with her physical body. Upon becoming conscious, her first thought was anger: "You bastard. You made me come back." She felt angry that she couldn't stay in that peaceful place. Someone helped her up and she went to take care of herself. The experience remains vivid in her mind, confirming for her the reality of life after death despite being sent back before reaching her perceived destination.
