Diagnosed terminal with cancer and 39 days into a 30-day life expectancy, the experiencer was at death's door when he had what he initially thought was a dream but later recognized as an NDE. He found himself in an endless expanse of darkness where he could see 360 degrees without turning his head. A calming vibration or humming sound accompanied a growing reddish glow that appeared peach, pink, and orange in colors more vivid than ever experienced.
He arrived at what seemed like the edge of an endless volcanic-like expanse, his feet dangling over the edge while feeling weightless and at peace. The smell was crisp like after a thunderstorm. A bright ball of light appeared, swirling with blue streaks, occasionally forming a doughnut shape with a dark blue/black whirlpool center. From this emerged the weathered face of an older man with long wavy hair. Though familiar-feeling, he didn't recognize him. The being asked "Are you ready?" and despite having given up in his waking state, he replied "no, I'm not ready yet." The being said "There is something important you still need to do" while smiling and emanating increasing light. When he touched the being's cheek, his body vibrated and he briefly saw valleys, mountains, streams, and numerous people and animals in a peaceful place before being engulfed in white light and returning to his hospital bed. He immediately demanded to see all twelve doctors and told them he had to live because something important awaited him. Three years later, at Christmas 2013, he discovered the face from his NDE was his grandfather who died in 1956, before his birth, when he saw his photo on a calendar. The experience triggered a three-year healing journey including a miraculous recovery from hospice, development of an insatiable desire for learning, theories about quantum physics, enhanced sixth senses, and a calling to better mankind. He emerged cancer-free with transformed consciousness.
