The experiencer, after decades of spiritual searching through various churches, courses, and philosophies, suffered a major heart attack while at a friend's free church. As he lay on a sofa in severe pain, three church members including his girlfriend prayed over him with laying on of hands. Initially the pain subsided when he stood to use the bathroom, but it returned more severely, prompting renewed prayer.
While writhing in agony on the sofa, looking at orange street lights through the church windows, he suddenly experienced an internal vision of Christ dressed in white light. His first question about stopping the pain was met with understanding from the Holy Spirit that this was the wrong question. When he instead asked "What must I learn, what must I take away from this experience?" the pain instantly vanished and his entire body filled with warmth. He stood up exclaiming "Wonderful!" though his girlfriend was puzzled by his reaction to having just had a heart attack. During his emergency room visit and subsequent four-week hospital stay, he realized this was the "born again" experience Christians describe. His recovery, though initially gradual, became progressively stronger despite ongoing high blood pressure. The experience brought resolution to emotional issues previously impossible to address and catalyzed automatic healing processes. The transformation was profound - at age 50, his life purpose became crystal clear. He began practicing consciousness of God's presence, experienced the Trinity directly in his bedroom at 1 AM, and witnessed miraculous interventions including resolution of a dangerous situation in Basel. He came to understand himself as a Christian mystic seeking direct divine experience. The NDE initiated accelerating spiritual changes and deep healing he had sought unsuccessfully for decades.
