Maggie was hospitalized with heart attacks, lung infection and pneumonia in December 1999. Her heart was 60% scar tissue and doctors were concerned about her recovery. In great unbearable pain, she thought she had been taken by aliens due to the stainless steel and white surroundings. She was transported to a great meadow with green grass and colorful flowers. Her deceased mother was to the right planting orange tiger lilies by a bench but wouldn't look at or respond to her calls, which made her feel peaceful. Her friend Buddy who had committed suicide appeared on a hill but transformed into Alfred Hitchcock who walked away. She fell asleep in soft pillows waiting to die, feeling relief and no worry. She awoke being pulled back with a whoosh, alive in enormous pain with three friends (Guy, Sandy, Emily) smiling at her. The experience helped her release grief and guilt over her mother's and Buddy's deaths, quit smoking, and feel grateful to be alive daily.
