On December 28, 2017, while having morning coffee with her husband after a wonderful Christmas in their new Oregon home, the woman experienced a sudden cardiac arrest with a "widow maker" - 100% occlusion. She coded 9 times total, with paramedics performing multiple rounds of CPR and defibrillation. During the experience, she had profound out-of-body perceptions and spiritual encounters.
The woman reported floating above her body during code 6, seeing two paramedics working on her but unable to hear or feel anything. She experienced a peaceful state with misty light and a warm breeze, feeling no need for a physical body. She described being in multiple otherworldly locations including dancing in a wall of purifying water, an earth room she had to dig out of, paths with singing beings, brightly colored buildings containing all her memories and future possibilities, and finally a place of pure light where she became "mechanical" to heal herself. She encountered her deceased grandmother who told her it wasn't her time. The veridical element involves paramedics reporting that while she had no heartbeat and wasn't breathing, she would whisper things to them and reach up to hold their hands as if guiding their actions. Paramedic Chris confirmed this unprecedented phenomenon that none of them had experienced before. She also saw a mysterious "watcher" figure during the resuscitation attempts who appeared to be observing but not participating. After being dead for 15 minutes total with 100% fluid-filled lungs from aspiration, she was placed in a medically-induced coma with cryo-therapy. She spontaneously awakened on New Year's Eve, shocking medical staff who expected her to remain comatose for three weeks. She made a full recovery despite expectations of brain damage.
