The subject had been severely ill for 6-7 months with a virus and bacterial infection that spread throughout their body, leaving them bedridden. They told their mother they were certain they would die. One day, feeling particularly ill, they went to the garage for fresh air, where their heart began beating harder than ever before. They fainted and hit their head. During the NDE, they found themselves in a place of extraordinary calm with vibrant colors - bright blue sky, vibrant green grass, deep green trees, and comfortable warmth. Friends who had previously died were there laughing and running, along with childhood dogs. They felt happier and more at peace than ever before, with a lightness from having no body weight. When friends ran toward an iron fence, one friend's mother told them "You have to go back, it's not your time yet." A pillar of light appeared and took their hand, stepping down 4-5 feet back into the garage. They saw their body on the ground, floated above it, then were pulled down with excruciating pain. After the experience, they shifted from questioning atheism to having strong faith in God/higher power, lost fear of death, and gained understanding of body-spirit separation.
