In 2008, a man experienced a breakdown possibly from existential dread or alcohol, losing control and being hospitalized. His mother had to ensure he ate as doctors neglected monitoring his nutrition. Due to medication effects and lack of eating, he suffered a heart collapse. He had two main visions during this near-death experience. The first was deeply disturbing: humans stitched up as vacuum cleaners, eating junk while being pushed by wicked creatures, which he interprets as symbolic of earth's lowest realm and evil. The second vision showed a building resembling Tower of London/Big Ben merged together. Inside a small square room, the floor opened and he fell toward spikes below. A figure swooped in on a rope to save him, initially appearing with brown hair like Guy Fawkes masks, but when looked at directly, appeared to be Jesus. The visions then ended. He interprets this as showing no soul can be completely lost and there is always something better. In 2017, while reading "That All Shall Be Saved" by David Bentley Hart, he had a half-awake experience of universal compassion/love that dissolved his fear of hell and reincarnation, solidifying his belief in God's unconditional love for all creation.
