On December 24, 1968, at age 17, the experiencer was in a plane crash returning from Detroit with their father. The plane hit trees, crashed on a mountainside, lost its wings, flipped over, and landed in a marsh where snow and mud covered everything. They were trapped in their overturned seat, pinned against the window with their nose and mouth filled with marsh muck, unable to breathe. After hearing their father and others screaming, realizing they were dying, and attempting to confess their sins before thinking "what I've done, I've done," they experienced profound peace like being wrapped in a black velvet blanket. Suddenly outside observing from above, they saw bluish-gray light/energy leave their father's body and thought matter-of-factly "Oh, daddy died," then saw the same light enter their own body. They sensed the crash site was on an Indian burial ground. They found themselves in a gray place like Grand Central Station with loud acoustics and many people. On the left, crash victims walked calmly two-by-two with guides in peace. On the right, others huddled in confused, sad circles. Moving faster than those with guides, they traveled at warp speed through a bright tunnel with dark infinity beyond. They stopped at what felt like a quiet lakeshore with water sounds. Three ethereal sphere beings appeared, giggling with excitement. When the experiencer wanted to join them, they said "No! We'll come to you" and instantly melded into them, demonstrating how wonderful communication is without words. They were rescued around 1 AM, approximately four hours after the crash, with a rescuer recently confirming they dug muck from their nose and mouth. The experience led to lasting changes, and they're writing a book about navigating trauma.
