In December 2020, the subject was admitted to ICU with severe COVID-19 affecting both lungs, visible as white cotton balls on x-ray. Her oxygen levels dropped dangerously despite maximum oxygen support, pulse rate declined into the 40s, and she nearly required intubation. On her second or third night at her weakest point, she experienced an NDE that transformed her perspective on death and spirituality.
She saw a bright light to her right and felt a warm, soothing presence despite initially resisting. She saw an angel with golden-orange hair and bright white figure who guided her to a dark room with a pool reflecting blue light on walls. On the wall appeared her deceased parents, family friend Dennis, coworker Jan, and Jan's husband who had died by suicide the day before her admission. Each communicated telepathically - her parents expressed happiness, Dennis asked her to tell others not to judge his wife, and Jan reassured her that her husband's suicide was accepted and he was fine in the afterlife. Moving forward with her angel, she entered an area of white, yellowish, and golden light like clouds. She met a tall hooded being who revealed herself as Mother Mary, then was directed to an overwhelming pure radiating light she knew as Divine Love/God/Source. She felt like a child in this presence, understanding we are all one, always connected, with no fear or judgment. She was shown her true form as a large angel with gold wings, told she would heal, reminded of her role as a light worker, and instructed to bring back the message not to fear or judge others regarding the illness. She recovered rapidly over three days and was released as the nurses' "star patient." Post-experience, everything seemed flat and dull compared to the vivid reality of the light realm. The experience confirmed her spiritual gifts and life purpose as a light worker spreading love and reassurance.
