A 55-year-old woman hospitalized on an oncology ward with a brain tumor experienced a profound near-death event. She sensed impending death and alerted nurses, feeling her spirit tugging to exit her body. Sitting upright in bed, she felt her spirit leave through a funnel heading upward toward heaven, becoming a gaseous whip of energy with full awareness. She traveled around the universe in spirit form, experiencing a starry cosmos where she felt peace, bliss, and oneness with all sentient beings. She perceived that time doesn't exist outside the body and understood that edges, boundaries, money, and lack are illusory constructs. She observed her mother crying in the waiting room and could hear thoughts. Given a choice to return or stay, she chose to come back for her young son. Upon deciding to return, she was immediately delivered back into her body at light speed with a bright flash. She returned completely without fear, unable to access the emotion even when trying. The experience gave her new mental software and deeper compassion for others. She later learned this was an NDE and eventually healed completely from what appeared to be an incurable advanced brain tumor.
