In 1973, while living in Madras, India, a 27-year-old woman experienced an NDE during childbirth complications. Severely weakened from a rare tropical parasite that had reduced her to 90 pounds, she went into prolonged labor. After exhausting efforts to push with no progress, she felt the last drop of blood seep out and thought she was dying. Following an acute wrenching sensation, she lost consciousness. She then floated up to the corner of the room, observing her body on the delivery table surrounded by medical staff in commotion. She floated upward through the building into a black, star-filled sky, eventually resting in tranquil darkness. Earth appeared below, showing a vision of human suffering throughout millennia. She was then drawn toward a distant light at the speed of light. A compassionate presence held her as her 27 years unfolded without judgment, only complete forgiveness and loving-kindness. She was drawn into brilliant white-gold Light radiating pure luminescence - the essence of divine love and life itself. Inside this presence, she felt indescribable freedom and unconditional love. The Light communicated that she must return, saying "Your life is not completed" and "I have given you the gift of love." She abruptly returned to find her son had been born with severe head injuries requiring immediate surgery. The experience changed her life forever, leading her on a 40-year spiritual path of helping others find their inner light through counseling, crisis intervention, and expressive arts therapy.
