On June 22, 2008, around 7:30 AM, the experiencer woke with coughing and sharp chest pain, initially thought to be a pulled muscle. The pain intensified in the bathroom, prompting recognition of a heart attack. Their partner's limited Spanish necessitated multiple phone calls through friends to reach someone who could call an ambulance in Spanish. The delay seemed excessive while experiencing intense pain and fear of dying. At the town hospital emergency room, doctors and nurses administered injections before moving them to another room where the NDE occurred. Finding themselves alone in the room, they stood observing their own body in the bed, which appeared to be sleeping peacefully. The experience felt wonderfully peaceful, perfect, without any problems. To their left was an area they couldn't cross, where they saw deceased parents, family members, and friends who had crossed over. Joy filled them at seeing these loved ones. Without words, the deceased were pointing back to the body, communicating the need to return. Despite not wanting to leave, they returned. Minutes later, staff confirmed the heart attack. They remained calm, glowing with peace and relaxation. The experience eliminated fear of death, increased life's meaning, especially regarding helping others, and left them wondering about unfinished earthly purpose.
