After three days of flu-like symptoms while alone in London, the experiencer sought help at work, feeling as if walking above everyone. Taken by taxi to emergency hospital, they passed out and awoke hours later in isolation ward with nurses washing them with ice water and forcing iced water consumption, windows open in winter. A doctor arrived declaring them dead and ordered nurses to stop treatment. At this moment, their spirit left the body and observed from above, seeing the nurses defy the doctor's orders as he slammed the door. They immediately began a terrifying journey down a black spiral tunnel toward an amazingly bright light unlike anything seen before or since. Arriving in a beautiful place identified as heaven, they were met by their mother who had died two years earlier. Mother introduced them to deceased family members they had never known. A bright light was present but too intense to look at directly. After about twenty minutes, an unknown man announced it wasn't their time and they must return. The return journey through the tunnel led back to darkness and re-entry into the body with great pain. Unconscious for three days, they survived double pneumonia and a record-breaking temperature over 108°F, unprecedented for survival according to medical staff.
