On June 19, 1977, at 1:20 AM, the experiencer was involved in a fatal car accident while fleeing police at 80 mph. His friend Cline died in the crash. After hitting gravel and losing control, the car crashed into trees. Initially thinking they survived, he found himself in pitch darkness asking where his friend was. He then experienced walking away from his own body, watching himself fall to the pavement, seeing through tree branches to observe the accident scene below with his brother's car, police cars, ambulance, and people gathered. He and his friend realized simultaneously "We are dead."
A voice from front-right said "Fear not. Do not be afraid," identifying itself as "Father" while he heard "Christ" in his being. He then experienced 360-degree vision showing his entire life in corridors of stacked images, from age two onward, with a bright area moving like a flashlight across the panorama. He was transported to his mother's bedroom where the dog responded to his presence. The voice asked if this was his mother. His vision turned to see his younger brother through the door. Instantly transported 12 miles to his older brother Charles's apartment, he saw through concrete and steel doors to observe Charles reaching for the door with a shadowy figure beside him. Despite calling for help, the voice simply repeated the question about his brother. He was then taken 15 miles to his father's apartment, seeing him reading a newspaper through walls. After scanning the last quarter of his life review, he sensed voices murmuring behind him. He saw an image of himself in a white robe, head bowed, hands folded. A blue-white sesame seed approached with increasing pitch sound and light until they merged. He awoke in custody, handcuffed, learning his friend had died. Later, a friend confirmed his brother had sensed something happened that night, saying "something has happened" before leaving his apartment, proving the experience wasn't a dream.
