While vacationing at Lake Powell, the experiencer went down a two-story houseboat slide (18 feet high) and struck a rock, shattering their tibia, fibula, and tibial plateau in eight places with a compound fracture. After helicopter evacuation to a trauma center and emergency surgery to rebuild the leg with metal and screws, they developed compartment syndrome three days later. Despite their calf swelling to basketball size, doctors initially missed the condition until a nurse insisted something was wrong. Ultrasound revealed blood flow had stopped in the leg, killing the anterior muscle and preventing circulation throughout the body.
As the doctor and fiancée rushed them to emergency surgery, they closed their eyes momentarily and suddenly found themselves floating far above Earth, looking into space. They could feel Earth behind them while facing a massive, infinite entity encompassing all galaxies and space - a presence right in front of us all the time that Earth sits in. They understood all dark matter and dark energy in the void was God, overwhelming them with its unimaginable size. This presence knew everything about them as if it had built them cell by cell. Behind them, Earth seethed with life like blue and white ocean waves. The entity asked telepathically (not with voice but as a felt question) if they wanted to come out now or go back. After thinking of their life and fiancée, they chose to return. Immediately upon opening their eyes, they were still on the gurney in almost the same spot as if no time had passed. They told their fiancée they didn't think they'd make it and said goodbye before the doctor ran them into surgery. Upon waking after surgery, they had strange thoughts about floating in gas here while the other side has crystal clarity without fog. Their fiancée reported they initially spoke about not being baptized despite having no religious beliefs. The life-threatening compartment syndrome occurred without their awareness they were dying.
