At age 8, a boy was attacked by a family member who tried to drown him in the Russian River, California by choking him underwater near a dam. Thinking it was a game, he felt no fear initially. He opened his eyes to find himself in another realm, cradled by his guardian angel in arms of light, being presented to God. The angel asked God "He's adorable, can we keep him?" but was told no. During descent back through gray clouds, the child asked about God's love and his purpose but wasn't allowed to know. He requested and received a subtle hug before being merged back into his underwater body with the warning "Don't breathe!" Mechanical dam parts struck him, throwing him upstream along the river floor, which he experienced with profound appreciation for the sensations. The memory was suppressed until age 22 when God asked him about forgiving his attacker during another spiritual experience. He responded with complete forgiveness and was told he would go to heaven. God held his spirit as glowing light fell through him, sharing tangible divine love. The experiences taught him his purpose is loving kindness to others, understanding that tribulation enables spiritual growth.
