On February 28, 1987, while waiting for ride to work, experiencer heard friend Russell whistling in backyard with his cockatiel Buddy. They talked on fence until bird flew into tree. Using pool pole to retrieve bird, when pole got within 22-24 inches of high tension power line, electricity arced across air using them as ground. Everything turned RED with flashes of light approaching at tremendous speed. Heard 60 Hz hum increasing in volume, screamed as light overtook them, lost bodily control. Three flashes of light passed through them, then everything went black - no time, sound, or light. Opened eyes seeing Russell but couldn't communicate, separated by glass plane, frozen in time. Faded to black again. Later opened eyes seeing Russell trying to save their life, but realized they were sitting on fence watching from bird's eye view, feeling no pain. Environment suddenly changed to large white room without walls, bright white light everywhere with no shadows. Hundreds of transparent human-shaped figures without features approached. One threw 3-foot light bolt striking their back, paralyzing them for 7-10 seconds before breaking free and running. Came upon white moving surface like water, chose to run, fell in and opened eyes in backyard.
