At age 5, while playing with friends in a neighbor's backyard, the experiencer had great difficulty breathing and became extremely upset. Unable to breathe, they felt themselves come out of their body and floated next to their body lying on the ground. Worldly things immediately lost all importance, and they KNEW they were not just of this world. Time felt fundamentally different. Looking inward, they had a vision/memory of a beautiful city that was home, which made them very happy. The thought of "friends" waiting for them brought even greater happiness and complete bliss. A being of light then came and made it instantly clear they were not to be out of their body, immediately returning them to their body on the ground. The experience seemed to take about 5 seconds, though time didn't exist normally. When they tried to explain it to their mother, she said it sounded like they had fainted. The experience was profound, leaving them with knowledge that time doesn't exist the way we perceive it and that there is more to existence than the physical world.
