A 10-year-old girl, excited to inhale helium to make her voice high-pitched, passed out cold when the helium blocked oxygen supply to her brain. She fell to the ground and hacked uncontrollably for about a minute. Her last memory was inhaling the balloon before suddenly finding herself in a completely different realm.
She was running through a tall, waist-high yellow wheat field with waves in the wind, under "Golden Hour" lighting that felt like heaven. She ran for what seemed like 10 minutes without physical stress toward a massive, healthy green tree. Underneath the tree was a figure she inherently knew to be Jesus Christ, patiently waiting for her to run into his embrace. Having grown up Christian, she felt inclined to assume it was Jesus, but something within her knew with certainty it was him. As she neared Jesus and was about to reach him, she was suddenly pulled back to reality, opening her eyes to worried parents and siblings surrounding her. She felt strange with her oxygen restored but wondered what would have happened if she had reached the figure under the tree. The experience left her with certainty about Jesus's presence and the reality of a heavenly realm, though she was prevented from fully reaching him. The golden wheat field and divine figure waiting under the tree created a powerful spiritual experience from a brief loss of consciousness due to oxygen deprivation.
