Rev. Juliet Nightingale experienced a profound NDE while dying from terminal colon cancer in the mid-1970s. She entered a coma on Boxing Day (December 26) and was declared dead on February 2, spending over five weeks in what appeared to be an unconscious state. However, her consciousness was actively experiencing other dimensions. During the "twilight" stage before the coma, solid matter became translucent, colors became vivid, and she began perceiving beings interdimensionally.
Once in the coma, Juliet found herself enveloped by a Being of Light in unconditional divine love. She experienced a comprehensive life review watching her entire life simultaneously like a movie, with no judgment from the Light - only self-evaluation from her soul perspective. She observed different realms including a hellish place with faceless grey entities suffering from past atrocities, though she was assured these souls would eventually heal and return to the Light. She saw future scenes of people from her life and experienced underwater and space environments, moving effortlessly and creating through thought alone. The Being of Light asked her to help co-create and determine outcomes of events, making her realize souls participate in creation. She was told she must return to share that death is an illusion and life is eternal, and that she needed to experience love and joy before returning Home. A beautiful being appeared, pouring tremendous love into her as a gift for accepting the mission to return. Her transition back was gradual, and she remained aware of the Being of Light even after regaining consciousness in intensive care. The experience left her knowing that fear is acquired not natural, love is the prevailing force, and all beings ultimately return to the Source. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience contains many biblical elements including encountering divine light and beings, experiencing divine love, receiving a life review, observing heavenly and hellish realms, gaining spiritual knowledge, and being given a mission. The unconditional love and light align with 1 John 4:8 "God is love" and John 1:5 "God is light." The different realms observed echo Jesus's teachings about heaven and hell. The commission to return with a message parallels prophetic callings in scripture. Unbiblical elements: The assertion that "all souls, without exception, eventually return to the Light" suggests universal salvation, contradicting Matthew 25:46 about eternal punishment. The self-judgment rather than divine judgment conflicts with 2 Corinthians 5:10 about appearing before Christ's judgment seat. The concept of souls being temporarily "retrograde" then healing contradicts biblical finality of judgment. The being asked to "co-create" and determine outcomes suggests a level of human participation in divine sovereignty that exceeds biblical teaching.
