A 21-year-old male drove while heavily intoxicated following relationship problems, consumed by suicidal thoughts and believing "something needs to happen so I don't make it home." Driving 90 mph down the center of a winding road around 1:45-2:00 AM, he approached a four-lane highway junction checking for other vehicles to avoid harming anyone but himself. His next memory was awakening in a medical helicopter being transported to the hospital, with the intervening experience occurring during the gap.
He found himself in complete darkness feeling unprecedented happiness and euphoria. Observing himself walking slowly from above and behind, he existed without physical form yet knew it was himself. A grayish circle underneath followed his movement through what he sensed was a giant cubed room despite the darkness. The experience involved dual perspective - watching from above while simultaneously experiencing first-person view without visible body. He harbored no thoughts about what happened or his location, simply feeling amazing before abruptly awakening in the helicopter. Medical staff provided intermittent care as he drifted in and out of consciousness over several days, never returning to the dark space. During recovery, he developed remarkable ability to perceive detailed images of angels and demons in abstract patterns, particularly bathroom marble tiles. These visions appeared extraordinarily detailed for approximately one month. He experienced vivid dreams of angels and demons during sleep throughout this period. The temporary enhanced pattern recognition and spiritual imagery lasted about a month before fading.
