Time was compressed, allowing extensive communication in Earth's 90-120 seconds. The guide explained important facts about the new venue and corrected past errors with phrases like "get it right this time," though without reproach. Words formed visually in the air like white chalk on a blackboard, later dissolving into smoke-like shapes upon return. The experience transitioned to climbing familiar stairs to a landing with a red door (3.5x7 feet) containing a translucent window (1.5x2 feet). The setting strongly resembled his childhood physician's building from the 1940s, except the door's color. Unable to see through the window, he consciously chose to withdraw, descending three-quarters down before the universe shifted. He floated rapidly backward through night sky, feet forward, experiencing profound peace possibly enhanced by medication. Defibrillation paddles brought violent return with his shout "What in hell did you do that for?" Ten years later in 2011, while studying the Book of Mormon, he recognized Alma's instruction about death and resurrection as identical to his NDE orientation lecture, providing significant validation of his experience's spiritual authenticity.
