Woman experienced 3 heart attacks and 2 cardiac arrests over 4 hours while in A&E. Required 40 minutes of resuscitation to maintain heart function. Placed in induced coma in ICU with poor prognosis - family told to expect the worst. She could hear husband's mother and children encouraging her to fight. Felt overwhelming calm and irresistible pull toward bright light. Found herself floating in a hospital ward setting with continued serenity. A young nurse in old-fashioned uniform spoke to her saying "Hello, Vanessa" and assured her doctors were working hard to help her recover. The nurse said she would leave her with family briefly and return. Vanessa felt content and peaceful with family visits. When nurse returned, she touched Vanessa's hand saying "I'm sorry, but you can't stay. You have to go back, but don't worry, I'll accompany you." Next experienced anxiety and knew she had to fight, followed by vivid strange dreams about fighting to return. Upon waking, experienced nightmarish dreams that made the peaceful NDE stand out as definitely real by contrast.
