A 36-year-old woman experienced an NDE after taking new medication that interacted dangerously with her antidepressants, lowering her heart rate. While asleep, she found herself as an entity of energy perceived as beams of light in a void of nothingness, feeling profound contentment. Another bodiless being explained her role was to help souls cross between planes of existence. She was sent through multiple realities to help a young Caucasian girl's spirit move between planes, which required more effort than traveling alone. Upon returning, she was given a choice by a being she termed "god" (though aware it wasn't the religious God) to stay and continue this work or return to her body. She chose to return due to concern for her parents' grief. Upon waking, she felt she had been taking shallow breaths and needed to breathe deeply. Later research revealed the medication interaction could cause death. A doctor suggested her choice to live or die may have been genuine. She concluded the experience was likely a vivid dream caused by medication, though she may have been close to death.
