On July 3, 2018, a 58-year-old man woke at 4 AM with chest tightness. Having experienced similar symptoms two nights earlier when an ambulance took 25 minutes to arrive, he decided to drive himself to the emergency room. Upon arrival at 4:20 AM, he told the receptionist with a twirly mustache that he needed immediate attention for a possible heart attack. The receptionist initially dismissed him, telling him to take a number, but then connected him to an EKG machine. Upon seeing the results, the receptionist exclaimed "Oh my god, man, I am so sorry; you are the real deal" and screamed "code red."
Medical staff swarmed him, cutting off clothes and inserting IVs while a young woman held his hand asking about his family to keep him conscious. Suddenly, he found himself in bright white light with all pain gone, feeling like he was floating on air. He thought "Whatever they gave me was the best drug ever" as all the medical staff had disappeared. The woman holding his hand began crying, and when he asked why, she was surprised he was conscious and explained he had flatlined and been defibrillated back to life. While being rushed to surgery for a stent insertion, he flatlined again. After the stent was successfully placed, he heard the doctor say "You're going to be okay now, buddy" and "Great work." The next morning, his doctor visited him first, calling him "his miracle" and explaining the statistical improbability of surviving after flatlining twice. He underwent quadruple bypass surgery and recovered. The experience involved classic NDE elements including bright white light, absence of pain, and floating sensations during clinical death, though no otherworldly encounters or life review were reported.
