A 24-year-old man severely cut his ankle on broken glass, completely severing the tendon controlling his big toe. He required immediate surgery but had been partying the night before. Doctors were concerned about giving anesthesia due to his recent alcohol consumption, requiring his brother to sign liability forms as his own signature would be invalid. During surgery preparation, he was given anesthesia and his next memory was waking up trying to determine his location. He found himself on his back but realized he was upside down with his back against the ceiling. Looking down in panic, he saw an operating room with a doctor and nurse working on a patient's feet. The memory of his injury flooded back and he realized it was his own body below, though something blocked his view of the face. His religious training triggered immediate fear of going to hell. He could only scream internally "I'M NOT READY!!!" This was his last memory before feeling like a vacuum cleaner sucked him back into his body. He told no one for years until joining recovery and Christian communities.
