A 13-year-old girl in Szczecin, Poland, was hospitalized with rheumatic fever during summer holidays. She experienced severe joint pain and high fever, with her grandmother applying cold compresses. Her last memory was screaming in bed before losing consciousness. She found herself in a dark, warm place feeling peaceful with no pain. She felt compelled to move upward toward a bright white light in the distance. A male voice touched her shoulder saying "Child, you have to go back. It's not your time." Despite her protests wanting to stay in the painless warm place, the voice firmly insisted she return. She then experienced coming down through the ceiling, seeing herself on the hospital bed with her mother asleep beside her, noting her mother's hair had turned grey. Through glass windows near the ceiling, she observed into the adjacent room where she saw an 18-year-old girl with beautiful black hair. She heard medical staff discussing how the girl had been attacked in a park, had brain damage, wouldn't survive, and needed surgery where they would cut her hair. Upon awakening, her first question was about the girl next door. A nurse dropped her tray in shock, and staff whispered "how does she know that?" The specialist denied such a patient existed, but her mother checked and confirmed the girl was there exactly as described. The medical staff refused to believe her experience and gave her empty boxes to play with.
