Diagnosed with a life-threatening spinal cord blockage from the fourth to seventh cervical vertebrae, the individual faced immediate surgery with the stark warning that they might die from something as simple as a cough or sneeze. Their right arm was paralyzed, legs were spastic, and electric shock sensations ran through their body with head movement. The surgeon warned that even if they survived the operation, they might emerge as a quadriplegic. Facing imminent death, they progressed through classic stages of denial, bargaining, and ultimately acceptance, experiencing a violent shaking as intense energy moved through them, followed by unprecedented calm and heightened sensory awareness.
During surgery, as anesthesia was administered with the thought this might be their last experience, they let go completely. They experienced intense vertigo and spinning, moving through a tunnel-like vortex of spinning memories from their life. To maintain stability, they had to withdraw attention from these memory scenes and focus on their destination, feeling drawn forward while aiming for the endpoint to maintain some sense of control. The journey through this tunnel was extensive, with memories calling for attention but requiring focused resistance to avoid being pulled off course. Emerging from the tunnel into a space of stillness, they encountered a glowing spark of consciousness - pure intelligent energy without human form, accompanied by another observing spark at a distance. The being conducted what felt like an exit interview, prompting them to complete their thoughts about their concluded life journey. After reviewing and understanding their life differently, they indicated readiness to move on. As the being began to lead them away, a thought about their daughters growing up without their father caused them to pause. The being noted that because their reason for wanting to return was for others rather than themselves, they would be allowed to return, immediately sending them back before they could protest. They awoke in their body in traumatic pain amid hospital drama, feeling as if they had jumped into an ongoing movie. Initially, the trauma obliterated memory of the experience, but reading about NDEs a year later triggered recall. Their original diagnosis of spinal cord tumor proved incorrect after they worked on healing themselves in consciousness, with doctors later declaring it must have been a misdiagnosis. The experience transformed their life philosophy from regretful "I wish I had" to active "I'm glad I did."
