In May 2010, a DOD employee suffered a heart attack from a blood clot that broke loose following a foot injury where bones were crushed by an SUV. Earlier that day, a homeless woman had given him her Bible after he gave her $20, prophetically telling him he would need it more than her. He developed severe double pneumonia that worsened until November 29, 2010, when a severe coughing fit at work caused him to lose consciousness and collapse across his desk.
Instantly surrounded by immense, loving light with a low steady buzz, he lost all pain and physical sensation, describing it as "falling through the floor and landing in God's hand." The light was too bright to look at directly, and he appeared to be on his knees. Before him was a courtroom with four judges in grey hooded robes on tall benches, all writing. A low courtroom bar stood before them, and he immediately knew crossing it meant never returning. When focusing on the light identified as God, everything instantly made sense. He was told through pure thought to become a "writer" despite being an engineer, physicist, and artist. Desperate to stay, he heard coworkers calling "Rudy, Rudy!" but wanted to remain. God's final message was "I will heal thee." He regained consciousness falling hard to the floor, bleeding from his forehead, repeatedly saying "WOW!" He felt frustrated at being unable to bring back all the knowledge gained, feeling his brain was "pitifully small." His boss, upset by the experience, said "These things don't happen to people like you" but within 18 months took early retirement to become a Lutheran minister. The experience enabled him to guide his mother peacefully through death in January 2017, telling her to "go into the light" during her coma. She passed on his birthday at 4:45 AM after he intuitively woke at 4:00 AM knowing her time was near, despite nurses expecting her to last the weekend.
